Adult Classes

Our Adult Education program begins with our Core Curriculum, Classes 101-106: Alpha; Membership; Network; Evangelism; Confirmation; and Forming.  A description of Classes 101-106 follows below. Start with Alpha, Class 101, and walk through our core curriculum!  Meeting dates and times are variable.

We also offer other education opportunities, such as Bible studies, and other level 200 courses, from time to time. These classes include occasional book study groups, and classes such as RestartingListening for Heaven’s Sake, The Marriage Course, Parenting Courses, Financial Peace University, and Life in the Spirit Seminar. There is a training group for healing ministry most Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm-9:00pm.  Our Home Groups (Small Groups) are also great places to learn more about the Christian life, as we study the Bible and other helpful books.

Alpha – Class 101

Alpha is a basic introduction to the Christian faith taught around the world. Here we ask and help you to answer questions like, Who is Jesus? Why did he die? How do I pray? How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit? Questions and doubts are welcome…we will not pressure you to agree with us.  Invite your friends, all are welcome! We start with fellowship over a delicious meal, hear a half-hour talk, then break into small groups for an hour.

Membership – Class 102

The Membership Class is our basic introduction to the Church of the Holy Spirit family. Since we are composed of members from many different backgrounds, we’ve designed a course to help answer your questions about who and what Church of the Holy Spirit is. We cover our vision and values, Anglican essentials, church history, and Membership Responsibilities. The class is offered in a single, five-hour format on a Saturday, includes lunch and is taught by our Rector.

Discover Your Gifts and Passion for Ministry: Network- Class 103

What is Network?  It is a course designed to help you to discern your calling to ministry and serve in style! We do this by helping you to discover your spiritual gifts, passion for ministry, and personal style. This is a far more complete look at your gifts and passion than most have taken, and includes seeking input from people who know you well, for a 360 degree view.  Each person who completes the course will have a 90-minute personal consultation with a trained consultant to discuss where you can be most effective and fulfilled in ministry service.

Contagious Christianity – Class 104

What is Contagious Christianity? This course will help you to witness with more confidence to your friends about your love of God in Christ and His love for them. You will discover a way to do evangelism that is consistent with who God made you to be. In this course, you will practice telling your story, bringing up spiritual topics, answering common objections, and leading someone to Christ through safe, encouraging role playing.

Confirmation – Class 105

Confirmation is not just for teenagers! It’s for anyone who wants to reaffirm their baptismal vows with a mature profession of the orthodox, reformed faith. This class is also for those coming to Church of the Holy Spirit and the Anglican Communion from a different tradition. It’s a way of formally acknowledging your wider church family and coming fully under the spiritual covering of our bishop.  Using our excellent new Catechism book, you will learn about Anglican doctrine, heritage, worship practices and polity.  Our bishop will visit us, lay his hands on you, and pray for you. We offer separate classes for teens and adults, in alternating years.

Forming – Class 106

Forming is our Spiritual Formation Class. In it, we learn how to sail with the flow of the Holy Spirit, letting Him do the work, rather than rowing on our own steam. We want everyone to learn how to hear the still, small voice of God. We teach you a way to do that by meditating on the Scriptures. Includes many lessons on how to have a vibrant, interactive relationship with God.
