Church of the Holy Spirit – 2023 Music Minister Job Summary

Church of the Holy Spirit (Anglican) is seeking a part time Music Minister to begin immediately. The Music Minister leads the music ministry team and coordinates all music functions in the church. Our Sunday services feature blended contemporary and traditional music. We also host other seasonal events. Our average Sunday attendance is about 130 people in one Eucharistic service at 10AM.

Reports To: Rector (Clancy Nixon)
Status: Part-Time (10-15 hours per week, depending on need); annual salary is between $20,000 - $27,000, depending on experience, education and skills.  Sunday hours are 7:30AM to 1PM.

Job Summary

The Music Minister shall be responsible for coordinating and providing God-honoring and technically proficient music for worship services and other church events. He/she will oversee, coordinate, and lead all aspects of the music ministry including, but not limited to, the selection and leading of music, or recruiting of musicians for, Sunday Morning and scheduled special events (e.g., Christmas, Epiphany, Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter, etc.). He/she shall seek out and encourage creative use of musical gifts by the congregation, and is encouraged to start choral groups, etc.   Must communicate well with, and be responsive to, the Rector, Business Administrator, Sound Tech, and other staff. Directly supervises and supports all music ministry team members including volunteer musicians and paid musicians (if any).  Sound technicians currently report to the Business Administrator; the Music Minister is the customer of the Sound tech. 

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

The ideal candidate will be fluent with contemporary worship music and styles, as well as more traditional hymns, and have gifting and experience in leading ministries and musical groups while exhibiting a sensitivity to the congregation and Rector. Prior Christian service is preferred, as is experience and proven abilities with choirs, drama, and multimedia presentations.  The successful candidate must be a committed Christian who is mature in his/her faith.  He/she must fully support the mission, vision, and ministry philosophy of Church of the Holy Spirit and its leadership team.
